SALVAGE & JETBLACK
Each piece of JETBLACK JEWELLERY is unique and celebrates a bygone era; an era of the hand made.
"With careful use of reclaimed black glass, jet and delicate vintage clasps, these pieces are re-made with traditional knotting techniques."
Historically jet was strung using heavy cotton thread. Small knots were made on either side of each bead to keep the beads spaced evenly, much the same way that fine pearl necklaces are made. Each bead shows age and patina with irregular shapes due to its history and many years of wear.
The trend for wearing jet jewellery was started by Queen Victoria when she went into mourning for Prince Albert and the rest of Britain followed suit.
